Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce

This bread pudding with bourbon makes everyone happy, at any temperature.

Bread Pudding
with Bourbon Sauce

Preparation: 30 minutes
No. of Servings: 8
Cooking Time: 60 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1 inch cubes (16ou)

  • 4 cups milk

  • 3 large eggs, beaten

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 cup raisins or craisins

  • 3 tablespoons butter,

  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 large egg, well beaten

  • 2 tablespoons bourbon

Instructions:

Directions for Pudding:

1. Combine bread and milk in large mixing bowl; set aside 5 minutes.

2. Add eggs, sugar, raisins, butter and vanilla; stir well

3. Spoon mixture into greased 3 quart casserole dish

4. Bake, uncovered, at 325F (pre-heated oven) for 1 hour or until firm

5. Cool in pan at least 20 minutes before serving.

Directions for Sauce:

1. Combine butter and sugar in small saucepan; cook over medium, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves.

2. Add egg, stirring briskly with wire whisk until well-blended

3. Cook over medium heat for 1 minute.

4. Remove from heat, cool slightly; stir in bourbon.
